The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) is a global organisation tasked with assessing scientific, technical, and socio-economic information related to climate change. Belgium, through its national focal point hosted by Belspo, plays an active role in the IPCC process. This announcement outlines how scientists based in Belgium can contribute to the IPCC's work and make a meaningful impact on assessing the body of scientific literature relating to climate change.
How to participate
1. Contribute as an Author or Review Editor for AR7
The IPCC is seeking experts to contribute to its Seventh Assessment Report (AR7) as Coordinating Lead Authors, Lead Authors, and Review Editors. This is a unique opportunity to collaborate on the latest advancements in climate science and contribute to a globally influential report.
Application process:
Download and complete the nomination form.
Prepare a CV in English (maximum 4 pages).
Submit both documents to the Belgian IPCC focal point at ipccfocalpoint@belspo.be before 11 April 2025 COB. Late submissions will not be accepted.
Applications will be evaluated by the CIS-IPCC, and Belgian nominations will be submitted to the IPCC Secretariat by 17 April 2025.

2. Contribute as an Expert to TG-Data
The IPCC Task Group on Data Support for Climate Change Assessments (TG-Data) is seeking specialists in the following areas:
data provenance and scientific workflows,
climate data handling systems,
FAIR (findable, accessible, interoperable, reusable) data principles, and
development and/or analysis of climate and observational datasets.
